The Alt Plauen series takes decorative elements from Art Nouveau, including flowing lines, botanical motifs and floral inserts. It works particularly well in contrasting colour compositions and can be combined with geometric elements.
Each tile is handcrafted and can be adapted in colour and form, making the series ideal for period apartments, boutiques and historic bathhouses.

Uni colours
Our manufactory and solid-colour tiles are available in the following colours at no extra charge and can be combined with each other.

We also produce custom colours on request. Please get in touch. Price and lead time on request.

Planning
Once colours and patterns have been chosen, the laying needs to be planned. This should always be done together with the installing tiler.
Many dealers in Germany use the visualisation tool VISOFT and can prepare a laying plan for your project.
We also offer a visualisation service on request. Please ask your dealer for details.
Preparation
The tiler must ensure that the floor/screed is as even as possible.
Depending on the substrate, the surface must be prepared professionally.
Outdoor use
Our tiles are frost-resistant. Please note, however, that laying tiles outdoors requires special construction chemicals and drainage systems.
Installation
We strongly recommend that our tiles are laid exclusively by professional tilers. The material must be checked carefully before laying. Tiles from several packs and pallets must be mixed. Tiles of different shades must not be laid together.
If different calibers are laid together (e.g. runners and corners), start by aligning the tiles with the largest caliber to the minimum joint width. Then align the smaller calibers along the large-caliber tiles to obtain even spacing between them.
We recommend a minimum joint width of 2 mm.
Size variation
The actual size of the tiles can vary slightly from the nominal sizes and from one colour to another. This is due to the natural pigments used in production and to the individual reaction during firing.
An experienced tiler is familiar with this.
When ordering more than one colour, or different articles, a wider joint is needed to even out the size differences.
Sealing / impregnation
Zahna tiles are finished during firing with our patented “Kerasiegel” system. The tiles should not be impregnated or sealed afterwards.

Limitation of liability
Zahna-Fliesen accepts no responsibility for the laying.
In the event of a complaint, it should relate to the tiles themselves. Zahna-Fliesen will inspect the case. Our liability is limited either to replacing the defective tiles or to reimbursing the product costs, and does not extend to covering consequential damage.
Complaints should be reported within a reasonable time after receipt of the goods. The tiles must be inspected before laying. Complaints cannot be considered after laying.
Installation constitutes acceptance of the quality, colour, size and surface of the tiles.
Please note that we give no express or implied warranties for wear resistance or maintenance procedures.
It is essential to follow the manufacturer instructions of all additional products used before, during and after installation.
The Zahna surface finish “Kerasiegel” prevents dirt and stains from penetrating the material. That makes Zahna tiles a hygienic, soil-resistant floor covering.
To keep these long-lasting properties, a few points should be observed:
Initial cleaning
Once dry, the floor covering must be cleaned of cement residues left from laying and grouting (“acid washing”). We recommend a commercially available cement haze remover for this.
Sweep the covering dry, then wet it sufficiently so the joints can soak. Apply the cement haze remover according to the manufacturer’s processing instructions. Give the cleaner enough time to take effect.
Then work the covering manually with a scrubbing brush, or mechanically with a scrubbing machine. Afterwards rinse the treated floor thoroughly with clean water that is renewed regularly.
The more carefully this work is done, the lower the future maintenance effort will be.
Zahna tiles do not need subsequent impregnation, because they are produced with the ceramic surface finish “Kerasiegel”.
Routine cleaning
Non-greasing cleaners are recommended for routine maintenance cleaning. Never work with soft soap, floor wax or gloss-forming agents. These products form layers on the porcelain stoneware that appear as streaks, among other things, and on which dirt layers then build up.
Using wax-containing or similar care products can reduce slip resistance.
Do not use cleaners containing hydrofluoric acid, as they destroy the tile surface.
Just send us a message. We look forward to hearing from you.
